GOOD NATURE STATION in Kyoto: vegan shopping and burgers, but not everything is plant-based
The MARKET from the reel, three vegan burgers and what to check when shopping or ordering sauces: verified options at GOOD NATURE STATION.

GOOD NATURE STATION is a Kyoto stop with vegan options, not an entirely vegan complex. On the ground floor you can look for plant-based products in the MARKET and order burgers explicitly listed as vegan. That distinction matters: the same building, and the same burger menu, also offer animal-derived foods. The official GOOD NATURE BURGER menu page provides direct evidence, rather than an assumption based on the place's green image.
This guide starts with the vegan_japan.jun reel shared with our editorial team and read during preparation on 30 September. Its caption describes shopping for products with vegan labels and stopping for a burger: a useful lead, but not certification of the entire selection. We reconfirmed the official sources on 1 October 2026. This is not a report of an editorial visit or tasting.
The MARKET from the reel: how to shop without assuming everything is vegan
The official MARKET occupies 1F and offers fresh food, packaged products, sweets and wines. Its introduction also highlights fermentation, including miso and umeboshi. This is the place to start if you want to shop for groceries, distinct from the restaurants on the upper floors.
It should not, however, be described as an exclusively vegan supermarket. The official GOOD NATURE MARKET brand catalogue also contains non-plant-based products, including pork curry and preparations with chicken, beef or fish. The online catalogue documents the brand, not the shop's exact inventory: it does not guarantee that a particular package will be on the shelf on the day you visit.
The practical approach is to look for a vegan indication on each product and read its ingredients, without extending the claim to an entire section. For unpackaged bread and sweets, ask about the specific preparation. The bars, sauces and baked goods mentioned in the reel remain examples from that social-media recommendation, not a stock list verified by our team.
Three burgers listed as vegan on the current menu
On the ground floor, inside the MARKET area, GOOD NATURE BURGER separates a vegan and gluten-free section from its meat-based choices. The restaurant page and linked menu list three options:
- Shio-koji soy patty with spiced mayonnaise: ¥1,570 eat-in, ¥1,542 takeaway.
- Double version with two soy patties: ¥1,850 eat-in, ¥1,817 takeaway.
- Teriyaki burger with fried tempeh and fried eggplant: ¥1,850 eat-in, ¥1,817 takeaway.
These are the published, tax-inclusive prices at the time of our check, not a quotation guaranteed for any future date. In its September 2026 opening announcement, the operator describes rice-flour buns, soy-based spiced mayonnaise and teriyaki sauce made using soy sauce without animal-derived ingredients. Those statements apply to the specified options, not to the entire kitchen.
If you have found older recommendations under the name GOOD NATURE KITCHEN, you do not necessarily need to search for a second venue: the announcement describes its relaunch as GOOD NATURE BURGER from 1 September 2026. When ordering, it is simpler to point to one of the three vegan menu entries than to ask for a meat burger to be made plant-based.
Sauces, extras and drinks: check the rest of your order too
The menu includes mini salted fries with the burgers, with dipping sauces sold separately. The sauces include an explicitly vegan herb mayonnaise, but also a yogurt sauce. Extras include eggs, cheeses and bacon. Do not add a random accompaniment on the strength of the burger's label: ask for the whole order to remain vegan. Some drinks on the menu also contain milk.
The sources we consulted do not document a separate kitchen or specific procedures to avoid contact with animal ingredients. We therefore do not promise an absence of cross-contact. If you have an allergy or a gluten-related requirement, explain it separately and ask the staff for information: the word vegan does not answer those questions on its own.
Hyssop and the other floors are different experiences
If you want a table-service meal, Hyssop is on the fourth floor and is officially presented as vegan and vegetarian friendly. Its lunch can be changed to a vegan version on request; the regular menu also includes chicken, fish and meat. It is therefore not a 100% vegan restaurant. Make the request before ordering and reconfirm the composition of the complete set.
The official floor guide shows a building with different businesses. RAU's sweets should not all be assumed vegan either: its description mentions butter financiers among other products. A plant-based choice in one part of the complex does not certify the neighbouring shops. Choose the business, then the product, keeping those two checks separate.
Getting there and which opening hours to reconfirm
The official address is 318-6 Inaricho, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto 600-8022, on Kawaramachi-dori. The access page gives approximately two minutes on foot from Exit 5 of Hankyu Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station and five minutes from Exit 3 of Gion-Shijo Station on the Keihan line. These are the operator's approximate walking times, not a guarantee for every route.
The MARKET lists 10:00–21:00. For the burger venue there is a discrepancy worth making explicit: its listing gives 10:00–21:00, with last orders at 20:00, while the 1 September announcement gives a 20:00 closing time and last orders at 19:30. Reconfirm if you plan an evening visit; do not plan your meal around the later time without checking. Hyssop has its own service periods and may have exceptional closures.
A stop on your trip, not your only plan for eating
For a practical visit, give this stop two purposes: choose a packaged product after checking its label and order an option explicitly listed as vegan. Leave time to compare packages and ask a staff member a question. If the answer remains uncertain, there is no need to go ahead with the purchase.
Plan an alternative using our restaurant directory, which distinguishes 100% vegan venues from places with vegan options. To connect this stop with the rest of your day, read our vegan walk through Kyoto. If you want to prepare a few questions before travelling, start with the learning Japanese section.
The JNTO guide for vegetarian and vegan travellers advises checking broths, sauces and less visible ingredients, and explaining your requirements when ordering. This is useful even somewhere that clearly labels certain options: the name of a plant ingredient on the front of a package does not describe the entire recipe.
Frequently asked questions
Is all of GOOD NATURE STATION vegan?
No. The correct classification is a complex with vegan options: official menus and the catalogue also include animal-derived products. The reel should not be interpreted as a guarantee covering the entire building.
Can you order a vegan burger without modifying a meat burger?
Yes: the menu we checked distinguishes three vegan burgers. Still check availability, any extras and sauces when you order.
Will all the products in the reel be there when I visit?
We cannot confirm that. Specific items and unpackaged products need a check in the shop or a reply from its staff. The social recommendation can guide your search, but it is not a substitute for an up-to-date inventory.
